I am offering today what I was told were sailor made folk art candlesticks. They are scribed with two deep lines on each toward bottom of the sticks and are again, what I was told to be whale ivory. Each has a squarish base with a candleholder at the top and each sits upon a round base that is black and when I purchased them was told it was island, exotic wood such as lignum vitae, however, my area of expertise is not in identifying woods so I took the dealer at his word. I have had these since the mid 80's and paid twice the price of what I am offering them for. Price I paid still affixed to the bottom 375.00....I kept them either in a cabinet or on my fireplace mantel so they are in very good condition. Each measures from base to tip at around 6 1/2 inches with the base at 3 1/2 inches. Base is some how pegged into the stem of the candleholder and the candleholder itself appears to be pegged or glued into the stem as well. Nice items and unusual pieces that would be a nice addition to any collection. My loss your gain as I am downsizing and can't keep it all....thanks for looking and reading and anything I might have left out, just ask and I will try my best to answer.
