RARE 18TH CENTURY SEXTANT. Rare and early sextant made by one of the most noted instrument makes of the 18th century. This double frame sextant is signed in script "Troughton London" with serial number 449. 2 sets of colored glass lenses and the mirrors are intact, 1 is chipped and silver 75%. The hand engraved scale reads from -5o to 150o and the vernier is engraved from 5 - 15’. This early sextant is in very good condition, noting only 1 assembly screw missing, other wise complete. The keystone wooden case has seen much use and is lacking eyepieces. 9 3/4" long and 11 1/4" wide.
