Tonight for your consideration, I am pleased to offer an authentic ships PORT LIGHT with original burner. This light has a plate on front that says Port...it has a cast iron hanger for display or for when it was used aboard a ship. The glass lens is red and has a few chips on the ends of the ribbed glass indicative with age and use. The door opens to house a burner with a wick for lighting the lamp. The burner has SIMPLEX on the portion that holds the wick and the portion that turns the wick up and down also has writing on it, however, I cannot read what it says. The oil burner is attached to a metal piece that slides on a glide to bring it in an out to refill the oil and to then put it back in a stationary position. I believe it may be tin or copper or it may be painted to appear to be copper. I cannot tell so rather be safe than sorry in advertising this as copper. It measures across the diagonal at 13 inches and in height to the round iron hanger at about 20.5 inches and it weighs almost 9 pounds. Postage will be calculated by zip code at end of auction...and will be shipped FEDEX ground or parcel select...
