SAILOR MADE ‘MONKEY FIST’ no reserve! BUY IT NOW. Large and heavy piece with large monkey fist knot on one ene and terminated to a brass snap. Painted grey and in very good condition. The monkey fist is apprx. 3" in diameter and quite heavy. The overall length is apprx. 13". The brass snap is made by REESE and displays deep age patina. The monkey fist would have had a small line attached to the brass hook. As the ship came close to the dock, this weighted monkey’s fist with the small line attached was thrown to workers on the dock. The small line on the monkeys fist was attached to one of the ship’s mooring lines—which was then pulled ashore by the dockworkers. It is a nice piece of nautical memrobilia.
