AUTHENTIC TOGGLE HARPOON no reserve! BUY IT NOW! This auction is for an authentic whaling harpoon toggle tip. This harpoon is in its original cast state, has never benn mounted or even finished. We purchased this item from 1 of the original Clifford Warren Ashley estates (there were at least estates) several years ago. Clifford Ashley was an author, artist and collector of whaling memorabilia. Probably best known for his book THE YANKEE WHALER, as well as The Ashley Book of Knots, Whaleships of New Bedfrord etc. He actually went on a whaling voyage in the early 1900’s on board the Whaleship Sunbeam. Ashley was quite a collector and his book The Yankee Whaler is an excellent reference on the subject. Also The Ashley Book of Knots is probably the most complete work on the subject of knots etc. SELLING WITH NO RESERVE!
